the shannon-weaver model of communication? Question: i want info abt the shannon -weaver model of communication Answer: Shannon-Weaver were two researchers that worked for a telephone company. Their research was very good at identify all the components of a communication episode. Such as sender, reciever, message, channel, feedback etc. However they did nothing to define what the message is or anything about how effective the message. Overall the model is a very fundimental concept of communication but simplistic and no real research has been done in that area since the 80s. |

How do you mount a weaver #2 side mount scope base to a merlin model 80 bolt action 22lr? Question: This seems like the best answer to my 1st question of can I mount a scope to this rifle. I don't have screw holes on top for the top mount. I looked at the picture of the weaver side mount but couldn't figure out how it fits on. Does it screw in to the stock? (Thanks for all of the good answers I received on my last question) Answer: As a Gunsmith, I can tell you that a side mount will also require that at least 3 holes be drilled into the side of the rifle receiver. In addition a little bit of the stock will have to be cut out to make room for the side mount so the base will allow the rifle action to fit flush back into the stock. With the Model 80, you would in fact be better off letting the Gunsmith tap into the top of your receiver (4 holes) and mount a one piece or 2 piece scope mount base. It will be a better looking mount and it won't limit access to your barrels chamber opening for cleaning purposes. It would also be a few dollars cheaper to do it on top than a side mount, and no wood would have to be removed..... |

Is there a way to put a Weaver/ Picatinny rail on my Marlin Model 60? Question: I own a Marlin Model 60 .22 LR. it is semi-automatic, without a detachable magazine (the magazine is located under the barrel). i want to put a small scope on it, but having it drilled and tapped would cost more than a new Model 60 that already has a rail. is there any DIY or other rail-type thing i can put on, for less than $50 USD? Answer: Yes, quite easily. The Marlin Model 60 has a rail that will fit .22LR scope rings. All you need is a .22LR to picatinny rail adapter which I have linked below. Just mount this to the rifle with the accompanying allen wrenches, and then mount your scope to the rail. |

What is the value of a 1971 Herter's Model Mark U9 , 270 cal. , w/ Weaver 3-9 variable scope . Fine condition? Question: Looking for the value of this rifle for possible sale . Bought it brand new in 1971 . It is the Presentation Super Deluxe Grade Completed Rifle . SSK40-45 .Have fired less then 50 rounds through it . Also has a soft carrying case , and sling . Answer: Your rifle was made by BSA in England. There is no collector value that I am aware of but you might find someone that specializes in BSA rifles and would want this gun. As an excellent quality "shooter" I would say its value should be in the $450 - $550 neighborhood. With $500 being about right. If it were my gun and I was trying to sell it I would most likely start listing it with the Weaver scope at $575. http://www.pooshka.com/gun-value.php?poo_model_id=4146 Here's a link to a "Blue Book" type site. FWIW - I think the listed prices are WAY off of real world prices. It shows only a $265 average used sales price. You can't hardly find any decent .270 for that. Much less a BSA in deluxe grade with 50 rds through it. |

Why is the mathematical model of communication called mathematical? Question: The Shannon-Weaver Mathematical Model is called mathematical, why is it? Answer: Shannon-Weaver Model: This mathematical model of communication called the Shannon-Weaver model which is based on a source that sends the message and a receiver that encodes that message. The amount of information being transmitted was based on a number of factors including noise, frequency of transmission, and the strength of the signals. The received message can be affected by noise, the medium being used, or clarity. |

Scope mount on a Marlin Model 60 is Weaver style, yes? Question: IS this the same as a 3/8 dovetail mount? Or will a 3/8 dovetail mount scope mount on a Model 60? Answer: The Marlin model 60 has a dove tail. Weaver is not a dovetail. See link below. The weaver base has slots for the screw used to tighten the rings down and is nearly an inch wide. |
