i have an old con-cor train what is that value? Question: i box says #0001-003001 J3-A HUDSON 4-6-4 UNDEC. it is in a white/light brown case with a orange strip the train is 10 inches long with the coal cart attactched it is all grey with black under it and has no writing on it Answer: Hi Lorne, what you have there is a model of the New York Central railroad's J3-A "Hudson" steam locomotive. The J3-A's were built by either Alco-Schenectady or Lima Locomotive works between 1937-38, and they were used to haul the 20th. Century Limited passenger train between New York and Chicago. It made the 961-mile journey in 15 1/2 or 16 hours, averaging some 60 Miles/hour. Some of these locomotives were fitted with a "streamlined" casing to cut down on the wind resistance whilst traveling at speed. All of the locos were scrapped when the NYC dieselised in the 1950's. I would suggest you find a model collector, possibly from a steam Railroad magazine or similar, who would be able to help with the valuation of your model. The reason it states "UNDEC" on the box may be that the model was produced in plain livery, for the purchaser to paint on the name of the Railroad, and the locomotive number. Hope this helps! |
