where can I get sitting train model figures z scale? Question: I'm looking for well painted z scale train/scenery people? I looked on ebay and they either seem sloppy or the pic isn't very good. Help! ok I haven't ordered before, but what does it mean when the picture of the item(s) is black and white? Am I getting a picture or the actual plastic figures and are they going to just be misc. colors? ooh nevermind. It means it's out of stock :P I'm sooo smart. Answer: Ebay is a last resort try this one: http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/index.cfm I've used a lot of their items for my layouts. Here's another I recommend:http://www.hobbylinc.com/prods/uja.htm I use Z scale buildings to force perspective, make things look far away. It's an old Movie trick. |

On a scale from 1 to 10 how good looking is fat Buu from dragon ball z and why? Question: I am talking about Majin Buu the fat one from the cartoon show Dragon Ball Z. On a scale from 1 to 10 how good looking is he and why? Answer: Uuum ignore Bella's incredibly rude answer... But she is right. You're in the wrong category. You should re-post this in Comics & Animation. You're in reptiles and so you won't get the answers you're looking for. People in C&A love anime so they'll be happy to answer it for you. |

How do you install the switch track for a bachmann e-z track HO Scale train track? Question: I need more details about the wiring. Answer: One wire is a common ground and the other two throw the points one way or the other. Usually the centre wire is the ground. To check the others before you solder, touch the wire to one button on the electric switch board and then touch the button on, note the direction of the turnout. That button throws the switch that way. If its wrong switch to the other wire, and solder. Solder the last wire to the other button. Test to make sure. When throwing turnouts, make sure you just touch the button - don't hold it down. Holding it down may cause you to burn out the relay that moves the throwbar. |

Calculus/Probability- Z scale, standard deviation, mean? Question: P(X>12) = 0.1 P(X<8) = 0.1 Show that the standard deviation is 1.56 and find the mean on the z scale. Another one... 15% of the cars on a highway are going >90 mph... 12% of cars are going <40 mph. Find the mean and standard deviation. If someone could just help me try to solve these? Usually I get problems with the mean and standard deviation given so its easier to convert to the z scale. Answer: For the first set of problems, consider this: The normal distribution graph is symmetrical, thus, if 10% lie, say, 2 units above the mean, then 10% must also lie 2 units below. In this case, we know 10% are greater than 12, and 10% are less than 8, so the mean must be exactly in the middle: x_bar = (12 + 8)/2 = 10 To prove the S.D., let's work backwards: z-score = (difference from mean)/s.d The z-score for 0.1 (or 0.9) = 1.28 1.28 = (12 - 10)/s.d 1.28 = 2/s.d s.d = 2/1.28 = 1.56 Hope that helps you on the first part! As for part 2, we're going to handle it in a similar manner, but we'll need to set up 2 equations, one for each side We need the Z score that gives us a value of 0.35 (0.5 - 15%), which happens to be 1.036 1.036 = (90 - mean)/s.d 1.036s = 90 - m m = 90 - 1.036s Now, we make a second equation based on 12% being less than 40 mph. We need to find the z score value for (0.5 - 12%), or 0.38 [note the negative sign, as we are now BELOW the mean] -1.175 = (40-mean)/s -1.175s = 40 - m m = 1.175s + 40 We can now set the two equal to one another to determine the S.D 90 - 1.036s = 1.175s + 40 50 = 2.211s s ~ 22.6 mph Substituting back into eithe equation for m: m = 1.175*22.6 + 40 m = 66.56 mph Hope that helps you! |

What scale of train set is comparable to the match box cars scale? Question: I want to build a play set for my 8 yr old , allowing her to use her matchboxes as the cars on the set. Although I'm not quite sure which scale of trains & buildings would be most comparable HO scale, N scale, Z scale .... could someone please help me? Thank you! Answer: Matchbox cars were sized to fit the box, so smaller cars got made larger, larger ones smaller -- pick the one that looks right to you. That said, hobby shops and Wal-Mart are now carrying many 1/87 automobiles (HO scale). The Wal-Mart ones are cheaper, but the hobby shop ones are usually more detailed. For an 8 year old I'd choose HO scale or even 3 rail O scale, depending on her fine motor skills. I used to work in a hobby shop, and found that little hands worked best with big trains because it was easier for the kids to rerail the trains. The larger trains are also made to stand up to being played with. HO has a slight cost advantage, but the 3 rail actually can take sharper curves. HO's practical & train set minimum radius curve is 18 inches. That's what 3 rail sets come with (but they call it by diameter, instead of radius, 0-36), but the train set trains will go down to O-27, 13 1/2 inch radius. Most hobby shops will swap out the track if that's a concern. Enjoy! |
