Can you hand-scale a cat's teeth at home? Question: I never thought about it, but when I was looking for cat toothpaste on Foster & Smith, I found a tooth scaler for cats. Do people do this at home? Is it dangerous or if you're careful you should be okay? Oh, a second question... they have tooth cleaning pads that you wrap around your finger. It's supposed to be easier than brushing. Do you think that will give the same results as brushing? I'm thinking of getting them instead of brushes and paste, it seems like it would be less of a pain. When my cat was younger I used to try to brush his teeth and he never seemed fond of it. He's relatively docile. He was completely declawed as a kitten (NOT by my choice, I was a child and my family had no idea it was so bad). So restraining him isn't much of an issue. Anyway, I was just curious. Any thoughts on the tooth cleaning pad Vs. toothbrush? Answer: Some people do this at home, however, it can cause harm to your pet's teeth, gums and you if your bit. The toothbrush is better at getting tartar off the teeth but it isn't easy to use on a small cat mouth. If she will let you the finger brushes may work. Science Diet has a great T/D (tartar/teeth diet) that helps break off plaque when they chew the food. Hard foor and crunch treats are great for tartar as well. Good luck and happy brushing! |

Any 'rules' for certain scales or groups of scales (such as 'in the major scales A-flat through B-flat, the right hand fourth finger always lands on B-flat, and left hand fourth finger always lands on the fourth degree of the scale') would be greatly appreciated as well. Please do not note any fingerings other than the ones considered 'standard', as noted by any method book from the U.S., U.K. or France. Answer: It depends on the key. The reason for the differences in fingering in different keys is because you generally do not want to play a black note with the thumb when playing scales. Try going to sharper image, or one of those fancy schmancy places and seeing if you can find a scale that records memos.
