I have a toyota camry sedan se 1987 make. It now makes some sound from engine/ piston side.? Question: I have a toyota camry sedan se 1987 make. It now makes some sound from engine/ piston side. Is it a bad piston ring? Also small smoke coming out from back of engine after running 8-10 kms and resist to start again until gets cooled. What might be the problem? Answer: A compression check which is relatively cheap should give you an answer. It can identify bad rings or bad valves. You didn't say how many miles or kilometers are on the car. It may be due for an engine overhaul depending on how it has been used. While this may seem expensive, it is usually no more than 4 or 5 months of car payments if you bought new. |

How much would £75,000 in 1987 be worth now? Question: This is what we spent refurbishing our church. We now wish to do the same to our village hall. Answer: quite easy to work out, as the retail price index tables have been reset so that Jan 1987 is 100.0 the RPIX (thats the one excluding the effect of mortgage interest) currently stands at 199.3 for last month, so £149,475 would get you the same amount of stuff today. including mortgage interest payments it is 205.4 so in most peoples pocket it is equivalent to £154,050. |

Did the GOP blame Bill Clinton when the market crashed in 1987 even faster than it is crashing now? Question: Why doesn't the "Reagan years" anthology include things such as the Reagan recession of the late eighties? Answer: How do you blame the Gov. of Arkansas? President Clinton signed legislation in 1999 that is very much PARTLY responsible for this. Here is a nice simple answer to this BOTH PARTIES are to blame. Both parties ignore the indicators even though both parties had individuals that tried to warn Congress, and the nation, about this. I doubt anyone knew it could get this bad though. Still, it could be worse. Right now is definitely the time you want a half glass full mentality. |

I CROSS UP THE BATTERY POST WRONG BY A MISTAKE AND NOW MY 1987 S10 WONT START ALL FUSES ARE GOOD? Question: 1987 S10 TRUCK WONT START .ALL FUSE ARE GOOD. Answer: Step one check for voltage at the fuel pump relay. That is remove the relay and use a multimeter to check for power that would pass thru the relays coil when the key gets turned to the on position. It should only have voltage for about 4 seconds if the fuel line is under proper pressure. If you don't have control voltage from the EMC to the fuel relay then the Relay is not grounded properly, EMC fuse is blown, EMC has no ground, EMC is Bad. If the you do have control voltage from the EMC to the fuel relay then unbolt your bed (6 bolts frame to the bed, 2 at the fuel fill cap, unplug the bed light harness, and unbolt the 3 grounds. Have some one help, and remove the bed or get it supported up near the cab. Undo the fuel pump harness and check the connections, Test for voltage from the relay to the plug wire when the key is turned on. If you don't have voltage from the relay to the plug then you have a broken wire. You will have to replace the wire. If you do have voltage from the relay to the plug then you need to test the fuel pump. Connect a multimeter to the fuel pump wire Gray whitstripe and the ground wire check for continuity, if it is open then you need a new fuel pump. If the multimeter shows it is continuous then you may want to run a jumper wire from the battery to the fuel pump lead wire and see if supplied with 12v dc continuous if it pumps, you should be able to hear it.... Lastly you might as well go ahead and change the fuel pump and strainer at this point anyway it is 24 years old most likely, and you have access to the tank to do it now. |
