Where is very good place to buy Hornby model railway scenery. i.e. good value? Question: It seems that scenery for hornby model railway is very expensive for what it is. Answer: I've found that using styrofoam insulation board makes wonderful mountians and bases for buildings. I'm not sure how much it is there but we get a 4'x8' piece for $12.50 a sheet. Scuff it with a wire brush or sand paper then it will take reqular latex paint. To build it up all you need is white liquid glue and tooth picks. Question: the balllast ime having trouble putting pva glue in beetween the sleepers to lay the stones in it may take years this way and may derail the loco's please help its basically called "ballast stones" lil stones whats the best way to stick these down beetween the sleepers? Answer: Put your ballast in place, then mix a slightly diluted solution of PVA and water with a drop or two of washing up liquid, then put it into a spray bottle and carefully spray it onto the track **. Do a few feet at a time, then carefully wipe the rail surfaces with kitchen towel (etc). Do the points/crossover ares by hand to avoid both glue and/or ballast getting into the works . Enjoy yourself - I've got about 48 feet of track to do myself soon ! ! ! ** - Use a piece of card to protect anything in the line of spray that you do NOT want sprayed - like buildings, scenery etc. |

wha tis the best model railway website for hornby and bachmann? Answer: If you're looking to buy new Hornby/Bachmann, try Rails or Hattons http://www.hattons.co.uk/ http://railsofsheffield.com /default.aspx If you're looking for Hornby spares http://www.modelspares.com Bachmann spares are much more difficult to get via retailers, but contacting Bachmann directly is often fruitful. For lots of info about the quality/accuracy of model trains, problems, how to solve them, etc etc... type RMWeb into google and have a look around there - lots of modellers giving lots of advice, information, how to... etc. But be warned, if you're into model railways you'll find it addictive. |
