What can Replace an Aristo-Craft Model ART-5400 Train Power Pack? Question: I have looked everywhere! I cannot find a replacement that is a decent price. I have found them on ebay but for about $100. What can replace,or does someone have one they are willing to sell? I have a 1996 RC Cola Express Locomotive by Aristo-Craft, a very expensive brand. I used to run it around my Christmas Tree, but when I got it out again, the Power Pack did not work. Can someone help me? Answer: Are you sure it was the power pack? The most common electrical problem witch electric trains of al sizes is the track connections. Over a short period often rail joiners become loose (faster if they are taken apart and then put together several times) and no longer make a good connection. If your track is permanent, soldiering wires to bridge these gaps is a good idea. Otherwise, keep buying rail joiners. Check the voltage for the motor on your locomotives - if they are around 12 -15 volts, that is the same as the smaller scale trains. Tyco is as brand name- and there are several used ones around - sell for about $3 - $5 at flea markets and train shows. Check that it works, before you buy. Check with a local hobby store or railroad club for help and information about your model rail problems. |

140 mercruiser runslower? Question: i have a 140 mercruiser.i run at 9,000ft it runs rich.im trining to runslow.im runing al 144 @35 thousens. what rpm is good for it. what rochester model is it. 2gc 2gv it has 2mix screws. it is a 1975 aristo craft 19 ft.at 5300 ft shood i time it at/rpm. what rpm is good to poot it in gear. i poot in new 144 run. pull ther black. it will run smooth @7-9 hundred. thanks so much. phil, utah Answer: between the spelling and the terms you used, i'm guessing some..... but it sounds like you are talking about the 3.0 4 cylinder motor. the idle and mixture on those motors is about as tricky as it gets. once you get it leaned out some, you will probably have to add a few extra rpms to keep it from stalling or idling way rough. the ideal idle speed on that motor isnt really a number. its when its fast enough to be somewhat smooth, but slow enough it actually turns off immediately when the key is turned off (when motor is fully warmed up). its the one thing i HATE about the 3.0's. never as smooth idle as it should be, unless it diesels when turned off. |
